Sure I read somewhere that a fan spoke to RM a few days ago and during their brief chat, asked why he wasn’t in US as had been widely expected.
Apparently response from RM was that by all accounts, it was the Yanks had cancelled the meetings.
So adding 2+2 this is probably due to the interest from S’ton.

On an additional note the Yanks must be rubbing their hands, at the thought of the compo they are now going to receive, instead of having to negotiate a pay-off to get shot of him…,

So in summary, we have on the one hand someone that has spent their entire time with us furthering their own interests (even if that was at the expense of the team) showing that they only care about themselves and on the other hand people who have spent their entire time with us showing that they are incompetent and unprofessional showing that they re incompetent and unprofessional. And we have fans that are surprised by any of this?

Martin was due to go to the states, because following that really bad spell the yanks wanted him gone,
but following that purple patch run in Southampton showed interest, the yanks called off the trip to the states where they were going to discuss compensation for sacking RM, when Southampton showed interest the yanks knew If they do a deal with Soton they would get $$$$$$$ instead of paying out compensation to RM, the problem being now if RM goes to Soton, he will want to take Piroe, Grimes, possibly Manning, that would give the yanks big bucks, that is all the yanks are interested in ( $$$$$$$ ).
