I know it’s not straightforward, but part of me wishes the West would just leave the Middle-East well alone, let them live how they want to live and rule the way that they want to rule. Any intervention clearly doesn’t work there.

It’s overly simplistic and incredibly harsh on those being persecuted by similar regimes all round the world but I’m inclined to agree.

There’s so much nuance and grey when deciding when to intervene and when not to that sometimes burying your head in the sand and doing nothing seems the least worse option in the short, medium and long term.

I appreciate that’s probably a very selfish viewpoint too though.

Each time that I see TV coverage of DJT slowly descending the steps from Air force One or whatever, I have a recurring hope....

It’s not selfish.

The ‘West’ (and it’s actually always America) have absolutely no interest in helping people being persecuted. They are only interested in enriching themselves.

They only intervene where there is oil or rare earth minerals they want and you don’t hear a peep from them when it’s just poor people being slaughtered.

The UN is there for cases where intervention is absolutely necessary.

Apparently persecution doesn't happen in Africa. If it did surely the US would get involved.

Hopefully someone will tie his shoe laces together or gives him a little "unintentional" nudge, wink wink.

Libya has large oil fields - but deep in the African continent so does Nigeria.
Just for scale - USA 55 billion barrels, Libya 47 billion and Nigeria 37 billion
Smurph is 100% correct - the vast majority of Americans cannot recognise anything outside their borders. The general level of educational attainment is appalling - they are a Nation that are as dumb as stumps - run by a small group of morally bankrupt billionaires.

Are Americans generally thick? Well they voted the orange man in, not once, but twice 😒
