Jaco Pastorius, jazz bass player was born. Jaco was one of the best, imo, bass players ever.
He died in September 1987 of irreversible brain damage after being beaten into a coma after an altercation with a bouncer at a club in Fort Lauderdale.
He played with the band Weather Report.
