While I know nothing about him I haven't just read online, this seems more like the kind of deal we should be targeting. A regular at the level below, young, with the chance to improve and be a valuable asset in years to come.

If £10m is fact, was it ever a starter?

Maybe Ogbeta will put in a good word for us. West Ham bid for him the other day according to reports. Name rings a bell as one we've pursued before.

Ogbeta was wanted by Peterborough, but long term injury put the block on

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has revealed that Nathanael Ogbeta was being lined up for a move back to Posh but his continued injury issues pulled the plug on the deal progressing, in comments given to the Peterborough Telegraph.

Ogbeta – who starred on loan at Posh under Darren Ferguson last season – had his reunion plans dashed with the Swansea wing-back now expected to be sidelined with an injury until November.

That has to be nonsense, it's rare that anyone moves from a League 1 club for that kind of money. Biggest transfer from a League One club this year is just under £3m (from Barnsley to Luton, meaning he was a Championship player last season) and there's hardly ever transfers over that amount. Last time anyone went for more than £3m was summer of 2020, when Toney and Hamer both went for bigger fees. Even then, they were under £5m.

Doesn't really matter though, as I doubt he'd be an option for us even at £3m.

We’ve a lot of inexperience at the back mind. I suppose it depends whether he’s potential like Guéhi or potential like Wood (nothing against Wood, he’s probably our best CB, but we’re going to struggle if we don’t get a bit of quality right now in).

This boy is absolute quality…teams much bigger than us have been sniffing around him

Opens the door for Wood to join Southampton and Edwards to come here.
