My handset for my Sky+HD box is playing up.
Do I buy a new handset or should I upgrade to sky Q?

How long have you been a Sky customer for? Assuming you have long length of service then give them a call and ask them for a Sky Q box without any fee. We had a fault with our old box and they replaced both the main box and the multi room box with Sky Q hardware without any charge. I was prepared for an argument and a threat of cancelling subscription should they charge me and I had no battle whatsoever.

Got Sky Q with mini box for upstairs last month. Free set up (new dish) and 8 quid cheaper than my old deal.

I don't have Q , when it first came out people were complaining that it had a reliability problem, I'm assuming its better now, a new handset is about 15 quid new or a fiver on eBay, but maybe not the best time to be buying used handsets

We had to change our main box last year after four years. The main ones are fine but the mini boxes can be a bit flaky.

It controls the box not the TV

When I download the app a message saying "Device doesn't have an
Infra red sensor " appears.
The sky HD+box is an Amstrad one, there is no option "Amstrad"

Have recently had sky q installed about 3 months ago. Without a doubt would not go back to having my sky HD+ box. I can record far more programmes at the same time than i ever could have before, plus it's got lots of other benefits. I was fortunate enough to get a main box fitted downstairs and a mini box upstairs at no cost at all and after renegotiating my contract ended up paying £20 per month less. As someone else has said if you have been with sky a while give them a ring , I'm sure with Christmas having just finished and people struggling for money due to covid affecting jobs they may be eager for any new business. Good luck.

Oh well, was worth a try :D
It's what I always do when I lose remote controls

Likely it's dirt/grime under the number pad - take it apart and wash the rubber number pad mat in very warm soapy water; use lightly damp kitchen paper to clear grease from the circuit board (the part where the pads made contact), and it should work fine.

I moved over to Sky Q - I have a spare Sky+ HD remote; yours if you want it. PM me your phone number to arrange. What we could do, swap remotes, and I'll do the repair job on the dodge one, and you can use that one as the spare when you get it back.
