• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

What’s the point in them? We gain absolutely nothing from them while constantly putting ourselves under pressure and eventually conceding from them. I personally find them more infuriating than the lethargic, pointless passing around the back, in to midfield, back to the defence and so on.

Ask Russell Martin, he's instructing his players to do so...

Not true. I read it on here somewhere it's the players fault.
It's their mentality :o

I'd love to see some stats on it but it feels to me like 2 out of every 3 times, the ball ends up back with Benda anyway and he has to play it long to someone out wide either on or just short of the half way line if he's got time or, if he's being put under pressure, just hoofs it. In either case, it doesn't require the risky fannying around if it's only a prelude to playing it long anyway. Completely pointless. It's just for show "Look at us, we can play it out from the back like Man City, yay, aren't we clever!"

We don't play them as ludicrously often when Fisher was in goal, but they have crept back in.

Playing it short out of the back has limited utility anyway when our main deep lying midfielder is Grimes, or we completely lack effective width., Might as well knock it long.

Fannying about at the back. Its killing us. Why can’t cloth eared Martin see this?

Nothing wrong with short goal kicks as long as the player you are kicking it to is unmarked.
Kicking it to a player who is tightly marked is simply football suicide.

This one was Benda's error. Should have gone left with a one two even though there would have been some pressure on the defender to play it out. Played into Reading's hands with the wrong decision. Good finish though.

The run we had from the QPR home game till about Cardiff home where he clearly changed tactics (the goal kick routine stopped for one) and was more open to a different style, he then changed back to his old ways with the messing about at the back etc negative play and we have been dreadful since.

I don't think it was a particularly good finish, I think Benda would have saved it fairly comfortably but the deflection completely wrong footed him. It should never have happened though so there's no excuse.
