Wonder we got sell on clause if he does get sold.

I would expect us to, it is pretty standard practice when selling up divisions.

Considering we only got what? 8m or so for him I think it was?
Even if it was only 20% sell on clause that would be 2.4m which wouldn't be unwelcome.

I don't blame him for looking for football away from Spurs.

I thought he'd get more of a chance under Conte but not the case.
Contrast with Ben Davies who didn't have a future there until Conte turned up. Only Kane played more minutes under Conte and now Ben has a new three year contract.

Shocked at that move definitely expected him at Forest

So spurs could make around £10mill profit on him despite them patently not wanting him and never playing him.

Makes a mockery of the notion that he wasn't sold cheaply.

Good deal for him and potentially us. Hope he gets a run of games pre World Cup and beyond

Good club, good league, good move. Hope he gets the game time he needs.

Played almost half as many games for Spurs as he did for us all told.

A 24 year old with experience in the Premier League and in Europe is likely to be worth more than a 22 yr old with neither of those things.

We sold him for £11 million, A fee agreed for £16 million, we must have a sell on clause, not that bad at all

It's been said a million times before, you can only sell for what someone is willing to pay. There was hardly a clamour of other clubs to sign him. We got a good price for him for where he was at his stage of his career. Still has a lot of learning to do.

Common sense.

Dan James hardly set the world alight at Man U, but even they managed to turn a profit on a player with 2 years worth of PL and European football experience who was still just 23.

The Norwich player (Godfrey?) going to Everton for £20m gave a lot of ours an unrealistic expectation of what Rodon was going to be worth. Godfrey had a full season at Premier League level with Norwich under his belt, including a stint as captain when he was barely out of his teens. In terms of proven experience he was well ahead of Joe, with an according market value.

All true, but it wasn't compulsory to sell him in that window. They'd just taken a £13m loan from Silverstein et al so the cashflow argument doesn't really hold. There's a decent argument should have waited until January, as his stock was only going one way based on his form.

There's truth in both arguments and it's done and done now, but it is something that needs to be kept in mind for the future, especially in the short term with Piroe. Teams could well be desperate for a goal scorer in January, so no point taking any old offer now just because he's into his last year next summer.

You're bit slightly disingenuous there Winston. Fact is he's coming of a season in which he made just 3 Premier league appearances (totalling just 86minutes) . He made a few appearances in their ill fated European campaign too against the likes of NS Mura. So to imply that's what's inflated his value well beyond what we sold him for is a bit rich.
