• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

I suggest the government find another way of supporting people who need help.

Maybe they can ask their rich friends to put their hands in those deep pockets of theirs rather than tax the working people of this country even more.

Then again we'd need a prime minister with a pair of balls and a chancellor who knew what she was doing.
What tax increases would you suggest?

I’ve already listed what I would do.

Closing tax loopholes and non dom status, increasing tax rates on high incomes or capital gains and a Wealth tax / asset based tax.

They wont of course because it means going after the ones who put them in and keep them in power. It's much easier to after the general public. After all we don't have a choice.

The problem with taxing the rich is they will find loopholes and offershore tax avoidance. If they don't, they will relocate to places like Dubai and take their jobs with them.

The Government probably has no choice but to hammer everybody this week edging people further towards poverty.

Non dom doesn’t exist any longer. Loopholes around tech giants etc absolutely.

Top tax rate being increased probably won’t bring in more revenue any longer as it’s at about the top of the sweet spot.

Wealth tax. Won’t work unless you bring in an exit tax. And even then everywhere it’s been tried it’s failed. Property tax will almost certainly come in (so called mansion tax). Remains to be seen what impact that has. It’s unbelievably unfair on London and the South East though. People are living in houses that are valuable simply because of where they are. Doesn’t mean they have any money.

CGT could increase a bit. Not to the same as income tax without crippling investment.

It’s actually quite difficult from where we are as we are taxed so highly anyway that almost anything will have a negative impact on tax take.

Let them leave, they won’t of course.

Your second paragraph is everything which is wrong with politics.

Just a different shade of tory

They already are sadly.

Three lots of people in the road I live on have gone to Saudi to work. One has gone to Dubai.
That’s probably the most middle class post I’ve ever read.

I’m sorry to hear about your neighbours leaving to chase the coin.

I’m more interested in hearing about the people struggling to get by on a weekly basis.

We need rich people. angel investors, entrepreneurs. corporate tech, manufacturing and financial services bringing and securing jobs in the UK to drive growth and drive the economy. From there we can bring down the cost of living and inflation and increase the pool of tax payers.

The dial at the minute is pointing in the opposite position. What will Reeves do this week to save the hospitality industry, provide funding for hospices, SEND and reel in the rail operators who are quite frankly are taking the piss.

We also need a system that ensure these people you mention pay their way.

Aye well it's easier to go after us plebs, no fancy lawyers or accountants to hide your Ill gotten gains see. What can we do against a system that's inherently biased.
Just shut up and pay up.
I've said it before, we dont make the rules, but it's all our fault.
Anyway just going to turn the heating off, it's been on for at least 15 minutes.🥶👍

Just move to Dubai, you won't need to turn it on, then. 😉

The rich get richer while the rest of us get fisted.
