It’s not really ideal is it?

Probably gonna stay living in Bristol so Cardiff is ideal isn’t it

The issue I have is the deal with us was apparently very close, but he ended up going elsewhere, I think it’s another one owners wouldn’t sign up off like we saw in January. Playing catch up come start of July.

I’m hoping it was for playing factors etc surely he wouldn’t turn down Sheffield for Cardiff? I don’t rate him anyway, but do think it’s going to be a bumpy summer for us.

Not sure about Sheffield but the deal was close with us and we haven’t got it over the line, and beat to the signature by an apparently broke Cardiff.

I’m like you though not going to lose sleep about not getting him as a player it’s just looking ominous in terms of our summer and where we are.

Yeah it does seem we literally have nothing to offer in terms of wages, there’s a decent free market out there aswell with the likes of Kane Wilson & Kasumu both who I think would be great for us.

Seems we are relying on the big Joel Piroe sale, but I can’t see any clubs offering 15-20M on him.

He signed for the scum because he wants to play along side Bale innit. Anyway most fans here must be happy we are living within our means.

Only someone who doesn't understand the implications to the future of the club would want us to spend what we can't afford, but it doesn't mean it's not frustrating. Seeing the club you support signing new players is a big part of getting excited about the new season and celebrating fiscal responsibility isn't really a thing, but we have to be sustainable or we'll end up going down the Derby route.

Lives in Bristol area, so a short drive over the bridge to Cardiff is an attractive option

I agree, thing is its about balance.... There's the Derby County route but there's also the opposite where not enough is spent and the club slips down the leagues which could also threaten the existance of the club. Also the ethos of the club is to win as much as possible and climb the league pyramid, we obviously need to do that on a very very tight budget which requires extraordinary staff and recruitment. Hard but not impossible, all that on the backdrop of the recent Premier league success so its a steep learning curve for some of our fan base.

If living within our means, is not being able to afford the wages of someone like O'Dowda, then our natural level is not the Championship. Which is fine by me aswell, rather have a club to support.

Well these things level themselves out and when our level is not the championship then we will be relegated obviously.

Well I suppose Luton did things on an absolute shoestring last year so it's possible with smart recruitment etc, but can't help but feel a little bit anxious. See what the next few weeks bring.
