How much, 20 million should do it, pace, potential, England u21.. just like everyone told us

£20M for Wood would be enough to give me wood.

I’m in the small minority of us that thinks he’ll go on to be a top player.
If he plays in the right set up, yes.

For a team that want's to play on the front foot, like Klopp's version of heavy metal football, he's never going to succeed.

Personally I don't think he's got the quickness of thought, needs a touch to pick his head up to decide what he is going to do with the ball.

A top centre half knows where the ball is going before he has had a touch.

What's happening, guys? Is this a goer? If we could get shot for anything upwards of £6 million with a few add ons, that would be a result.

Can't see this happening. Would Southampton and Martin really want to do business with us in any way after the fallout from Martin's move there? They can't find a centre-half as 'good' as Wood anywhere else as a Premier League club?

Would be amazing if it happened, but just seems too implausible to me.

They can just add the compo onto his fee and save everyone any further bother.

You could be right, but I don’t see it. Compare him to someone like Guehi, who was at least 2 years younger when he was with us. Guehi was utter class and stood out a mile. That’s the benchmark for a top player.

If Southampton were still in the Championship I could see it happen.
