Very sad news.
You see a lot of people ridiculing the Bat Out Of Hell album but if they say they’ve never sung along to it they’re lying.

Damn right. I loved his stuff. Bombastic, over the top, ludicrous and completely brilliant. Gutted of Penllergaer.

Not keen myself. :)

Some great songs. Like mini musicals

RIP

You're not wrong. That's the Jim Steinman effect. He wrote BIG production numbers and Meat Loaf (it was always 2 words, not 1) was absolutely the perfect vehicle for his OTT songs. Most of Meat Loaf's best known songs were written by Steinman and 3 of those on BOOH were originally written for a musical called Neverland, a sort of rock version of Peter Pan. Meat Loaf was already 30 when BOOH was released, quite old to be catapulted almost overnight into becoming one of the best selling artists of all time.

Funny showing him with Bonnie, saw them both at Reading Festival one year.

Meatloaf went on and was greeted with the usual rain of cans, he stormed off. Bonnie Tyler came on and got the same, she chested one down and kicked it back, everyone cheered and the cans stopped.

Looking at the news reports today, he obviously had a tough upbringing and he was a larger than life character, but that kind of music leaves me unmoved. Not true actually, I would move. To get out of earshot.
RIP, big guy.
