Jim Watt was a Lightweight, you're thinking of Alan Minter.

Marvellous Marvin, involved in some of the greatest middleweight fights of all time, I'm shocked.

RIP Marvin.

Aged 66. Check out the first round between him and Thomas Hearns in the Guardian news report. It looks like something from a Rocky movie but was completely real. Our giants are dieing on us.

To hold the title for many years when Leonard, Duran, Hearns etc. were fighting was remarkable.

Watched it earlier. Hadn't seen it before and was stunned. No wonder people say it was one of the greatest rounds of boxing. Fair play to him and Tommy Hearns, it was ferocious and full on.

Remember getting up in the night to listen to Hagler-Hearns on the radio as I'd put my week's wages on Hagler to win. Listening to the commentary, I thought I was losing my money when Steele halted the action in the third and called the doctor to check Hagler's cuts. But watching the fight later, after the first round it was clear Hearns' legs had gone and he was nursing the right hand.

Incredible resilience and chin on Hagler to absorb those early shots from Hearns. A true great of the sport.

Awful news. My favourite boxer of all time. Possibly the greatest (certainly one of) middleweights of all time.

If anyone has a spare 25 minutes I highly recommend watching "legendary nights - Hagler v Hearns" on YouTube. Documentary on the great fight itself including build up etc.

RIP to a bona fide legend. Still in shock.
