In this situation, unless the player leaked the news first, the club should have called in an injury or covid related complications. It is dissapointing to have this publicised.

There is no way the situation was leaked by the player

The club should of steered well clear if Pato had previous form for this type of s**t,just want him gone now but he wont get another club paying money for him with his rep and we wont just give him away so sadly hell be here for the rest of his contract, whether he plays or not is another matter.

MArtin wanted him though apparantly

What do the club get out of leaking it though? Not giving us a decent bargaining position at all with the window closing imminently.

Just surprises me the club uses a journalist who has been a big critic of the board/owners to leak story. Nothing at all against Stu James by the way, very good at his job.

Stu and Gareth Vincent at the BBC reported it within minutes of each other. The club get more out of it than the player so it wont come from anywhere else (IMO)

This was two weeks ago though maybe they assumed there may be interest before now and perhaps half a mind was to mean we could get O'Riley if there was early action for Paterson? Who knows, its all guesswork from here

If that is true its backfired, massively.

We could sell Paterson and put that money to Twine instead 8-)

Twine would cost a bomb I’m guessing?

cost us nothing his goals and assists up to now could help us stay up, even if he's let go for nowt now he'd have been worth it.

Agree that his contribution in terms of points won is worth what he has cost us in wages (since he was a free signing) - what is important is what happens from now.

The message that is sent to the rest of the squad (and to an extent other teams who are eyeing up our players) from here is hugely important
