• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

The importance of Darling's role was truly evident today.. Cabango arguing with both Hannes and Vig... Hannes positioning ,passing and lack of pace exposed by an average Oxford front line. No Hannes for me... need Darling or an upgrade at CB

If Darling doesn't sign on then we need to make sure we get a good replacement and no gambles for me.

How long is the contract offered to Harry Darling? If it is 3 years then his reported asking sign on of 750k across 3 years is worth 5k a week. What are his wage requirements?
If we are considering Delcroix then guys, please look at the game tape from today over and over.
Isn't it mad though, that the average nurses salary is about 34k a year. All those thankless nights in work, struggling to feed family and getting more and more abuse from patients and staff.

I long ago decided that it's not worth comparing players' wages to 'normal' jobs when discussing what a player is worth to a team. It's simply not comparable. What they're on is hideous, but we choose to follow the sport regardless.

As for Darling, it's clear we're a better team with him in it. We need 1 CB if he stays, 2 if he goes (which seems likely). If we can find 2 CB's we think are as good or better and can be bought for less than the signing on fee and wages he wants, then great. I have my doubts we'll manage that though.

It's also hard to watch a decent player not yet 26 years old leave for nothing.

I think you are correct with saying we are a better team with Darling in it and also hard to let an asset go for nothing but let us return to the first paragraph which is the only reason that these fuckwits get away what they do thanks to Bosman. I do not follow the sport regardless. I love the Swans but have almost nothing to do with any other part of the professional set up and find myself questioning whether I carry on giving hard earned cash to the Swans while these guys parade around like they are the most important people walking the planet. These guys wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire.

Think H is seeking a significant signing on fee

That’s better than a whopping wage increase. Last two games have shown how much he is needed. And as others have said we’d have to find 2 CB’s if he leaves. No brainer

I"d love Darling to stay......... but if he goes he becopmes another Flynn.....ie just another player, no club legend

Nobody knows what the injury is yet? It could be he is crocked, the last thing we need is signing an injured player who doesn’t get back to full fitness or his previous high standards.

Well he's passing no medical anywhere if there are stairs and hotels involved...

Some good infographics on the other site that demonstrates just what Darling offers

And what we would have to look for to replace him

I have been confused why so many people on this forum has been saying how good Hannes has been good for weeks. He looks lost, no strength and no real creativity. We need a strong solid replacement, non of this smaller player who knows how to pass from the back. Problem is he doesn't know how to do either.

This was my impression of him

His awareness (or lack thereof) of what is going on around him is a huge weakness, against Millwall he was moving at a job waiting for a ball to run through to Vigouroux not aware at all of a player closing him down, that player overturned a 10 yard head start when Delcroix was only about 5 yards away from the ball, got there first and his shot only just narrowly blazed over the bar.

Against Oxford there couldn't be any argument for nerves, there was absolutely nothing riding on the game and it was a dead rubber in every way. He consistently gave the ball away, sold himself rushing in to tackles he was never going to win, gave away stupid free kicks giving Oxford the chance to flood the box for set pieces and was at least moderately culpable for two of the three goals we conceded. His daft foul gave the free kick away for the first and he was caught ball watching for the second letting someone again get a run on him and get to the loose ball first.
