The boss in work is going to see them tomorrow so I picked it out to listen to for the first time in I don't know how many years. Saw them in the early 90's. A good concert on the whole. The title song.

This has matured very well. I like it more now than when it came out

The late great Elliott Smith, Finest of my generation. This is off his XO album

Not one particular Album of his , but listening to a lot of Billy Joel recently , got a triple CD box set of his stuff.

Leningrad must be one of my favourite story lines in a song ever .

I listened to 52nd Street at the weekend. Haven't listened to it for years and forgot what a great album it is. I prefer his earlier albums on the whole, the stuff he was writing, both lyrically and musically, before he was 25 is really something.
Songs in the Attic is a good live compilation of some of these songs. You can get some bargains on music magpie, just don't buy the best of/greatest hits etc

Not a huge fan but Leningrad is far and away my favourite Billy Joel song and I'd often wondered about the story behind it before I found the song had its own Wiki page a few years ago which explained everything. Superb song imo.😍

First album of his I bought was An Innocent Man , however when he performs live he goes to material from his Storm Front album , The Downeaster Alexa is a very moving track .
Goodnight Saigon obviously has an America slant , but very powerful lyrics .
Will check out your recommendation too .

The promotional video for that track also conveys the story brilliantly .
