He made a made a mistake and is trying to smooth over it.......only one way to put it right.

Interesting to read that Alan Nixon thinks we have a better team but predicted we would lose 2-1.

If it was as obvious as you say regards his after match quote then he didn't really have to come out and say what he did.........he did it because he realised he was wrong or was advised to do so because lo and behold he got it wrong.

Either way, he is saying different today to what he said previously.
