• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

I'm not surprised.
Oh! And I'll never by an EV. And not just because of that video either.

I have an EV and have saved a fortune on fuel compared to my previous car.

At this point I'd never go back to a petrol, diesel.

I won't have one, I've a diesel work van, whereas most of the lads have EV van's.

Do those with EV vans travel to Hereford as well? know, West wales mostly down this way and have to re-charge to come back
Merthyr/Cardiff lads do, we are mostly west and mid wales mid west wales.

A woman in work with me has one and she’s thrilled to bits with it. She has a 50 mile round trip commute about three times a week, she also uses it for social mileage and it costs her around £25 per month to run the car charging it overnight at her home. That’s represents a huge saving on her petrol bill.

Still takes a very long time on a low mileage car to make up for the premium that you’ve paid for electric over a hybrid.

Yep, the buying premium easily outweighs any ‘fuel’ savings unless you do mega miles over a long period. Plus you live with the range anxiety. The Chinese may eventually solve these problems, but until then I don’t really see it as a hard headed purchase.

Leasing or employer provided is the only sensible choice imo. No resale value (tech moves fast, and that’s all they are) and the battery risk as they get older markedly increases allegedly. As a small city runabout on a lease it does become a viable option. Now they are being taxed more and electric increasing, I still think a diesel (my neighbour has just done 170k in his 12 year old 3 series is still a cheaper long term option).

Range anxiety soon disappears once you've figured out your journeys etc.

Just been to London and back on one charge. When we did stop to charge it was more or less complete by the time all us had a waz and coffee.

All depends on what brand you purchase. The cost these days isn't that expensive.
