Oh what? If that's the case then I'd be pleasantly surprised if he plays a meaningful part in any of the series. Recuperation from calf injuries seems to be exasperatingly easy to get wrong.

Simon Jones was on radio Wales earlier and was expressing surprise Anderson wasn't starting.
No mention of any injury.

With a patchy weather forecast for Brisbane next couple of days....lots cloud, bitta rain.....essential England win the toss here. They need every bit of luck possible so that'll be a start.
With recent events meaning I'm struggling to sleep atm, am sort of looking forward to being able to at least occupy myself with the Ashes.
Anyone know if they are letting a crowd in ?

I remember reading that spectators were being admitted as normal.

BBC describe Anderson as not injured but being saved for more favourable conditions which presumably is code for the day night tests.

I only just saw that the fifth test is to be moved due to WA's Covid quarantine restrictions.

Anderson's got a poor record at the Gabba ...

He has just 7 wickets in 4 Ashes Tests at the Gabba, coming at 75.14 per wicket, and every 141 balls.

Plus there will be two pink ball day/night Tests in this series.

Is Haseeb Hameed good enough for this level?

We’re probably about to find out. Same question can be posed of most of England’s top and middle order to be honest. Of those likely to play tonight only Root and Stokes are fully proven and established at Test level.

Cloud cover, green track. So win the toss and decide to bat....13-3.
Yep, that'll work.

Well that's a shocking start.
Difficult batting conditions & a quality bowling attack.

Got up and looked at the score.........soooooooo predictable......sigh

I'm puzzled. It seemed an obvious choice to bowl first. I wonder what caused Root to bat first.
