When January arrives, West Ham United will need to make a decision on whether they want to continue the loan of Armstrong Oko-Flex at the Swans. As with Brentford and Fin Stevens they are in a position where they need to make a decision whether to recall the player to spend the second half of […]

Another who wasn’t given a fair crack of the whip. Too pacy, too direct…

A strange signing and another example of a loan that hasn’t really done much to strengthen the team.

Questionable decisions from the recruitment team.

Hard for a loan player to strengthen the team when the manager prefers to play an out of position central defender in your place.

More questions of management than recruitment.

He didn't follow Martin's specific instructions to retain possession, thus a major risk to Martin's slow build-up game plan.

So when he was bombing on down the flank with pace and endeavour and getting us fans up off our seats with excitement, Martin was up off his seat shouting to get him off because he wasn't cutting back inside enough to protect the ball and retain possession. Fact.

Martin actively discourages individual flair and brilliance with his paint-by-numbers, bore fest.

Even Lionel Messi would get pilloried by Martin. As the great man says :
“The best decisions aren’t made with your mind, but with your instincts.”

Very true Doc

The problem is we are stuck with this so called football management guru...

But apperrently he answered his critics with the victory v Watford...

In that Wigan game, he had 2 or 3 shots decent shots, set up Manning's goal and looked a constant threat every time he had the ball. So he was rightfully hauled off at half time for his disgusting show of dissent.

Good riddance to the bloke. Take your antiquated idea of football somewhere else.

To be fair, if we signed a left winger to play right wing back its definitely a recruitment issue.

Accurate point, it was Fin Stevens who should feel the most aggrieved about the Lati/Sorinola situation since one is a centre half and the other is a left back.

When it comes down to it I don't think there has been much wrong with the recruitment, but I do think that there has been a disconnect when it comes to the recruitment and what RM has wanted. Oko Flex is a fantastic example of what the squad needed but not what RM wanted.

Sounds a bit like the Morgan Whittaker situation too.

Good luck to the boy wherever he goes next. If he’d been given a fair crack of the whip here he would have furthered his career and improved our team.

The point about the disconnect is nailed on correct. It’s incredible to think that a small team which consists of Martin, head of recruitment, director of football (or equivalent), are unable to align on player recruitment. It’s not an issue limited to here either.
