If anyone knows when all this is up and running please get in touch.
I find this period fascinating as I had family that were bombed and lived to tell the tale, like no doubt many others on here did.

This pandemic has highlighted to me how much we took for granted our libraries and museums.

It's on my "to do" list. I spent a few of my days off in Swansea museum over the last few years.
The WW1 exhibition they had to mark 100 years of it was superb and moving.

You can find some interesting things on them Dick.

Why is there no memorial to those who lost their lives in Swansea?

There is one on New Cut Road. "The Air Defence Monument" (Anti Aircraft Gun) was unveiled in 1995 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of fighting in Europe, and in memory of the civilian and military personnel who died in the air raids on Swansea.

Fascinating map but I'm not sure how accurate it is. Parts of Teilo Crescent were flattened during the blitz, but according to that map the only bomb to land on Mayhill was in Mayhill Gardens

Also the top of Kilvey Hill is peppered with bomb craters, but again according to that map only one landed there

Agree Blaze not sure of accuracy. I went to blaenymaes school in the 60s and remember the bombed buildings just off woodford road just below facon place. No mention on the map.

An uncle of mine remembers rubble for years in the Kingsway and tanks

About 10 doors down from my place. My back garden had an Anderson shelter converted into a shed until not too long back, but the previous owner tore it down for some reason. Madness really, it was a part of history
