• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

That’s probably the most middle class post I’ve ever read.

I’m sorry to hear about your neighbours leaving to chase the coin.

I’m more interested in hearing about the people struggling to get by on a weekly basis.
To call them my neighbours somehow suggests a relationship that doesn’t exist.

I think they’re all a bunch of utter self entitled twats that Id be happy to see taxed at 99% and never allowed back into the country. I wouldn’t cross the road to say hello.
But that’s not the pragmatic approach that will actually lead to increased tax take in the UK. And helping people who can’t get by.

I do live in a middle class area. I have been an accountant for almost 40 years. After attending my local comp in Swansea and leaving to go to college. I’ve been in London since I was 21.

Doesn’t make me a Tory apologist. I didn’t vote for them. I voted for this lot. And I’ve said already that I think they’re are doing a crap job. Particularly Reeves.

But the utter bollox spouted by idiots like Polanski who seems to believe there’s a magic tree that can be used to give everyone everything and somehow those that can easily move round the world won’t do so when they’re asked to give up more and more of their money drives me mad. And it’s going to let in scum like Farage and his racist, treacherous clown show.

The only thing that will work is sensible economics. It’s the only thing that ever has.

I can't take you seriously after your previous comment.

A lot do.. to pay for those who choose not to work.
A lot also only pay a fraction of what they should.

People who choose not to work is a completely different conversation and do you honestly think it's the billionaires of this country who fund the welfare state?

The billionaires of this country won’t fund the welfare state if they’re taxed more either. They’ll just move.

None of them actually live anywhere really anyway - they have houses all over. They’ll just spend a bit less time here.

It’s fantasy economics to be honest.

Taxing corporations on revenue generated here rather than profits would be far more sensible.

The one where you talked about your poor neighbors who have had to move to Dubai.
I didn’t say they were poor neighbours who’d had to move to Dubai.

I said that they had moved to avoid tax. Out of choice. As that’s what people can do if they feel they are taxed too much. It’s a statement of fact refuting your assertion that people don’t actually go.

You seem to have a problem with reading what’s been written,

The problem we all have and we all know, including Labour and Reeves herself, is that it will be a disastrous budget. The markets will fall and, apart from the very fortunate people on final salary index linked pensions, most people's cash pension pots will take a hit.

And therein lies the problem, people work hard and save hard all their lives and get fooked over whereas freeloaders and snowflakes get handouts.

No problems here.

I didn't say they were poor as in wealth, it was more of a term of pity having to leave the UK because they don't want to pay their way.

You are so out of touch with reality it's quite funny and scary at the same time.

We're done, have a lovely evening.

I didn’t use poor in terms of wealth either.

I used it in the same way you did.

I don’t feel sorry for them. I feel contempt.

Doesn’t change the facts though. They’ve gone.

I’m not saying what should or shouldn’t happen. I’m saying what does happen. And taxation works on what actually happens rather than what should happen if everyone was lovely and generous.

Hardly anyone is. There are not that many people who will not avoid paying tax if they can. Whether it’s going to Dubai for work or paying the painter in cash to avoid VAT. It’s the same thing.

Years ago, loads of people went from Swansea to Saudi for work. From the steel works. It’s the same thing.

And I’m not the one who thinks every sod out there can afford an EV if they just get one second hand or lease it…

Lisa, you're out of touch with the real world.

In part yes.. corporate business tax is a big contributor and those who work for them in global UK based companies contribute through tax and national insurance.

It's why Reeves is trying to stimulate growth by getting inward investment to create more jobs which gives her more tax revenue.

In principle a good idea but she is not supporting businesses currently struggling to make a living and employ staff.

You're missing the point.
