Most pundits have us finishing 19th this season and flirting with relegation all season.

Do you think with recent additions to the squad, do you see us pushing more to midtable now or is 19th our battleground?

Nobody can predict anything at this stage. Who knows how new teams will "Jelly"

I predict Cardiff will be down the arse end though 🤣

These so called pundits have absolutely no idea about of the clubs they are making predictions about. I’d be surprised if they could name any of our new signings.

Why you
Think that Mon? Made some decent signings.

Although they have lost all of their loan players from last year

I’ve no idea who they’ve got tbh mate; Errol Bullet will f**k them up.

If he’s still there…

The optimist in me says we may push for a play off place. We have two very influential senior players, one of whom, is still a game changer on his day and their experiece can rub off on the exciting young additions to the squad. We have pace and some fight in the team and if the new striker(s) are as good as we hope then there is where we will be.

The only thing I think we can confidently predict is that we won't trouble the top 6, even if we strengthen a bit further (and we definitely need at least one CB) I think we're still someway short of that. There are still too many flaky players lingering on at the club that we can't shift on/don't seem to want to shift on (Fulton, Darling, Cabango) or past-it players that we inexplicably decided to retain (Naughton, Allen).

Based on what we have right now? I'd say we'll end up in upper end of the bottom half. I think we'll have a slightly less uncomfortable season than last year, simply because Williams is a better coach than Duff and he's a better fit for us, he has the fans onside. It feels more harmonious at the club than this time last year, and that's always a good starting point. Also, I believe the division overall isn't quite as strong as last year. I don't think the sides coming down have the squads that Leicester, Leeds and Saints had. That's going to help, I think.

I agree that we likely won't challenge for play-offs, but it wouldn't actually take that much a change in form from last season to happen.

We finished 16 points from the play-offs last season. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that we can finish 8-10 points higher than that this season with Luke in and a stronger starting eleven. Take into account the lack of freak teams from last season - Leicester, Ipswich, Southampton's run of from from the end of the year - and you could be looking at another 3-5 points coming in there.

Traditionally, 70 points near enough guarantees you a play-off spot, 75 absolutely does. A 13 point swing over the course of a season isn't a huge, huge ask - but again, I'm not expecting it

What are we realistically going to be happy with? Upper mid-table stability with some clear player progression should be what we are aiming for?

Just need to be realistic with expectations before people inevitably kick off when we aren't winning every game by 4....
