Breaking news on swanseacity.com.

It goes without saying that he looks back on his time at Swansea with nothing but fondness blah blah.

Shouldn’t have played in that second leg. Been clear that he’s been wanting out since we got relegated.

Goodbye.

Dubbed "Iron Mike" by the Swansea faithful? I always referred to him as Van der Hoof.

Think his head was gone for the 2nd leg of the playoff maybe even before. He started throwing himself down easily which almost cost us a few times. Good luck to him but a similar player to Jordi Amat, don’t think he’ll go on to anything special

He showed some promise as a raw youngster when he got here but overall he’s been very poor. Van Der Hoof is right.

A very good player overlooked in favour of lesser talents.
Should have been captain this season.

That's fair. Both players have significant experience at U-21 national level; if I remember correctly then Amat had been playing for Spain from U-15 level right through to U-21's. However, neither has kicked on into higher levels.

Amat - where is he these days? I remember he went back to Spain but I haven't heard his name mentioned since.

1st season in championship I thought he was immense. When he lost the captaincy he was never as consistent. Can't see him playing regularly above championship level. However I wish him well wherever he ends up.

He’s based in Belgium for Eupen

Decent player but neither his head nor his heart have been in it since lockdown.

The season under Potter he was one of the best centre backs in the division, his long pass accuracy setting up attacks was an echo of Ashley Williams at his best. Since Cooper came in and losing the captaincy on top of that he has become a shadow of that player, still a decent centre back but only barely above average compared to what the rest of the Championship had to offer.

I had hoped that he might re-sign a new deal but always expected him to be moving on. At present that leaves us wit Cabango, Rodon and Guehi as established central defenders. We definitely need to recruit at least one if not two players to fill this position (could maybe get away with one while blooding another of the academy products) if we want to stick with the 5-3-2 formation.

He’s obviously not fully fit and was clearly rushed back due to injuries.

He'd only played 1 game since before Christmas prior to the lockdown and had a knee op in Feb and broke down in rehab, and was told he wouldn't play again this season.

Coming back after the lockdown he was never going to be match fit and would only play a bit part in the remaining games.
