I'm not sure it's ever been something that's been a decent, humorous or cutting chant. I've always wondered what the Welsh hoolie element would have done in such a situation.

Agree.
Lot of football songs / chants leave me cold, but even outside the current climate this is at best boring and purple.
As I said currently just defies belief that it was sung.
As far as I am aware hasn't been sung in other matches since the invasion began
