Was great for Hearts second half of the season, less an out and out goal scorer than a foil for the striker. Got 13 goals last season in an average Hearts team though, free transfer, seems a good deal.

Hearts made 3 offers to try and keep him.

I saw Shankland score a hatrick for Ayr United against Stranraer. Mentioned him to the club. I was told they were already monitoring him.

He was on trial down here prior to joining Ayr, he was a free agent at the time.
