If it was our defender who slid back across the line like that we would all have been raving that it was as good as scoring a goal. Basically it was the defender equivalent of scoring a worldie and sometimes you just have to put your hand up and admit that the attacker couldn't have done any more in that circumstance

Like others have pointed out I think when he gets his goal he will start getting few more in. He has been really unlucky and outside of VP looks like the one player who nearly scored every game. Also a side note on Eom. The movement yesterday he made to get the goal was brilliant. There is a player there with Eom, he just needs to be more consistent.

We've been saying about our wide players not getting in the box from crosses from the other side.. well done Eom for the anticipation and movement

I maintain that Eom is being wasted out wide. His skillset suits a central position far more IMO.

Yes - could be the missing link. Good at beating opponents - not sure about what the timing of his passes would be like. Would like to see if he could thread a few through that Vip could run on to.

He couldn’t have done more with that shot, it was just excellent defending, he really impressed me today, he was having a good battle with their defender. He could do with building up his upper body strength but other than that has improved game by game
Err maybe the more was putting it in the net.
He is a serial nearly man.
Having said that - i love his general game

His first touch was spot on, and his shot was low and hard and had beaten the goalkeeper
It was simply the defenders equivalent of a worldie that kept it out

If that defender hadn't busted a gut to sprint ten yards past his own goalkeeper and slid and caught the ball just right that it went away from goal rather than ricocheted into the net as was more likely then no one would have said anything about it both from an attackers or defenders perspective

Yep. Sometimes you just have to give credit where it's due.

Compare and contrast Idah's finish with Widdell's lack thereof. You will immediately see the difference between a goal scorer and a nearly man.
The first time strike took any chance of a block out of the equation - Melker's touch and steadying himself invited the defender to do his job.
For the record I love Melker - and he is going to be a great player for us- but he needs to work on his finishing, as he is becoming the nearly man, and nearly does not hack it.

This is how the ball came through to Widell off of a deflection as a bouncing ball. Pray tell how a player makes a first time strike when the ball comes bouncing and lands between both of their feet like this

Also note how the defender on the corner of the six yard box makes up 8-9 yards in the space of Widell taking a single touch and smashing the ball past their goalkeeper to clear it off the line

The difference between that and Idah's goal as well is that one is an intentional cut back to a player who is set to receive and take on the shot first time
