The proof will be after the next general election given that’s what Zia Yusuf (and you) are talking about.
Fair point, indeed so, but nevertheless the politcal analysts will be focused (as always. on these late night shows) of how those results are likely to predict future outcome(s) come the next general election.

In my view, standard political analysts are getting increasingly caught out. I include the ‘sainted’ John Curtice who the BBC still talk about as though he’s infallible despite him being wrong as often as not. He’s utterly unable to predict the effects of tactical voting on his predictions. Plus he is one who consistently overestimates Reform support. Even at the last election he said Reform we’re getting 11 seats. Which led to an extremely tedious over focus on them all night which was totally unwarranted. Not helped by Nigel’s little helper Laura Kuenssberg of course.

The next general election is a long time off. And what people will vote on, as ever, is how well off or otherwise they feel. So far, this government has been awful at telling its story. But little by little, economic indicators are all moving in the right direction. And people will, in about 6 months’ time, start to really feel it. We’ll see what polling is like when that happens.

Well the proof will be after Welsh government and council elections. Bookmark it, so that you can gloat if proven to be correct. So its an upcoming nightmare for Reform then?
Not sure the Senedd elections are relevant with it being PR. They’ll get between 25% and 35% of the votes and as a result roughly that number of MSs.

General election in 3 years time is a totally different scenario. If things continue as they are I think they’ll win a significant number of Westminster seats but those projections in the graphic are just not realistic for the reasons others have outlined.

Incredible that the PM of this country is kept out of the loop in something so important.

Not sure what to make of this.

Nope. Not buying it. It's like something from "Yes Prime Minister". At least that was funny

My first thought was 'of course he knew' but I've changed my mind. He's toast of course, but if he was liked he'd easily ride this out. he's not, so everyone immediately thinks 'oh, yeah. right, you useless blancmange'. But he's a lawyer and a bloody good one, and he needn't have used the words he did, unless he believed them. If he'd known Mandelson had 'failed' DV he'd never have chosen his words as he did. So I believe him. He really wasn't told, for whatever reason. If Mandelson hadn't been outed further late last year, he'd still be Ambassador and no one would give a shit about this DV failure (it's not a bar to getting the job it's a risk factor that can be recorded and overridden). Nothing illegal happened in making the appointment.

Starmer was finished already, and this is just another unnecessary nail in his coffin, but I don't believe this should be the reason he resigns. The fact he's a useless PM at home is the reason he should resign, when there is a sensible replacement available, in an orderly fashion. We don't need more chaos. He should absolutely stay in place until Trump is done and the clock is ticking there and it will happen soon. If not, then Starmer will be gone by the end of summer anyway.

Starmer, as it turns out, is astoundingly naive and a poor politician. But there’s no way he knowingly stood up in the Commons and lied through his teeth. He’s just not built that way. That’s not necessarily a compliment in current politics. Johnson did it for years and got away with it right up to the time his own party said “enough” and binned him off. For all Starmer’s many faults, he’s no Boris Johnson.

As an aside the nonsense I keep reading that “Boris” was forced to resign because he ate a bit of cake at a party against Covid rules is a complete rewriting of history and possibly the stupidest thing ever said.
