Ironically over the last 20 years or so I’ve voted other than Labour more than I’ve voted for Labour. I won’t be voting for them next May either unless the polls change dramatically between now and then.

Triple lock and winter fuel.

Disability and out of work sickness benefits need completely redoing. Those in genuine need get nowhere near enough and there are large numbers that shouldn’t be getting anything.

Universal credit needs a massive overhaul as well. We are effectively subsidising huge companies who rely on minimum wage jobs to maximise their profits. Those who are looking for work need a higher amount.

I’d cut the amount we spend on defence.

And the NHS requires a massive overhaul. More money needs to go into primary care and nursing and convalescent care which would save huge amounts from the rest of the NHS. The whole system needs digitisation. And we must start actually enforcing rules around non residents using the NHS without payment (I agree with the use of national ID).

I’d raise income tax, reduce NIC (the 8% rate), I’d increase NIC over the UEL, I’d impose an exit tax, and bring in revenue based taxation on the tech giants. I’d also increase VAT on non food online shopping. I’d also reduce the VAT registration threshold. I’d increase the rates of CGT and increase NICs for non PAYE income.

The majority of people I know are quite happy to pay their fair share of taxes and don't expect any handouts in life.

What we do expect is transparency and fairness. There is a real struggle out there for middle earners at the moment, let alone those in the lower tier.

We all know who they should be going after and we all know full well they wont. The tax payer is an easy target.

But there are currently 1 in 8 young people doing literally nothing. That’s awful for the country.

And, an almost unbelievable statistic, 43000 people just in Bradford (population 560,000) are on PIP. I use that as an example as their MP raised it in the welfare debate. It’s not actually possible that such a high percentage of people are in genuine need. I’m not saying I believe they are corrupt, so it has to be that the system is just insane.

There are thousands of people out there taking the piss of the welfare state.

Nothing that I mentioned is a ‘handout’ and the public expect all of that list to be provided. The reason I know that is because any move to change any of it is met with absolute uproar and a government doing it losing the next election.

And people are losing their rag over the suggestion that the government are going to increase income tax by 2p and reduce NI by 2p (a move that won’t affect anyone that earns less than about £45k).
