• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

The wages saved by the end of Pedersen's contract are not insignificant. There is real danger with breaking the wage structure to bring in a player such as O'Brien permanently though, and that is that other players when their contracts are up for renewal will also want such wages, especially if they are key players to the squad.

O'Brien is the finished product of what Franco could become with another year or two of experience in this league and development. I would offer Joe a one year extension with reduced salary but bigger appearance based incentives and a pathway to coaching and look to bring in an understudy for him so he could guide their development.

Be that a new player or someone coming up from the reserves/youth setup in a similar way to how Joe broke through and was guided by Leon.

If O'Brien would accept a 20-25k a week salary (about 75-80% wage cut) then that would be incredible, but unless as a person he has completely fallen in love with the city and the surrounding area to raise his upcoming new kid then its never going to happen.
Getting rid of Pedersen and Fulton would free up hell of a lot in terms of wages.

The club has carried deadwood like this for far too long.

Tyreece campbell of Charlton looks a decent player, a tricky winger that scores goals.

Top of the pops should be replacements for O’Brien and Allen.
Marc Leonard was the midfielder on everyone’s wish lists last summer and I’ve not heard of him since… and he’s in League 1.
Crucial position for us and I dread to think where we’d be if we hadn’t brought O’Brien in.
Just checked, that mush we nearly signed from Man City is hardly pulling up trees at Norwich.
O’Brien was an inspired move.

We were prepared to eventually part with 5M for Wright and then went in late for Galbraith for 750k.

Even after the Bobby Clark loan deal didn't happen, Williams said in his presser that Coleman tried looking at getting a permanent deal done.....he stated Coleman is superb with numbers and tried his best to get it done.

My point being, there was a lot of desperation but thankfully it's worked out well, surely luck has a big part to play in that?

£5m? Half that.

What makes you think Galbraith wasn’t tracked since November? What’s desperation about it?

Shame we couldn’t get it over the line as he’s the sort of profile we do need to be looking at. Huge sell on value.

Doesn’t help we were a team in free fall

Funny how things work out.

We're currently above Norwich in the league and in a much better run of form since January.

I wonder if we will go back in for him in the summer.

Fee was reported to rise to 5M?
It might have not gone to that total but we seemed to have commited to that amount if those reports were true.

I have no doubt that Galbraith had been tracked well before but we seemed to push ahead with it after the deal with Wright fell through late.

Quick look and it appears it would go to 4M not 5M.

Interesting looking at Coventry's wage structure. Almost all earn under 10k per week some as little as 2k, Bidwell and Lati on 8k per week with Grimes on 25k and Binks on 30k per week.

How many of our squad are earning more than 10k per week?

I don't know if we were ever properly in for him or not, but the lad at Peterborough - Kyprianou would be close to top of my list to bring in. LoB isn't staying, Joey may be on the way out, we all know we need to improve on Fulton.

There must be plenty of players in League 1 capable of stepping up. We had Ashley Williams from Stockport.
